Enter a prompt for the type of text your want generated — be more descriptive to get better results. Some examples:
"random email addresses"
"a list of names for design files"
If you want multiple responses, try prefaces the prompt with the amount you want (note: it may not always generate the exact amount you ask for).
"10 FAQs for a Taylor Swift concert"
"5 possible names for a company that uses AI for design"
If you want, you can also provide examples for how you want your text structured. This helps to get the best results.
After clicking generate, it will show you a list of the generated text so you can review and tweak it before inserting it into your designs.
By default, the response will be shown as one block of text — however, like in the example above we may want to split this response up into multiple blocks of text.
By clicking the "..." button on the top-right of the generated text, you can change how to slice up the text. For example, split it up by linebreaks and also separate it by commas.
Each line can then be removed by clicking the '-' on the right side, or inserted into your design individually by clicking on the row.
Or can all be inserted at once by clicking the "Create text layer(s)" or "Apply to text layer(s)" button.
If you have text layers already selected it will replace the characters with the generated text. Otherwise it will create new text layers within your Figma file.
Alternatively, if you have any groups/frames selected it will apply to any text layers nested within it.
Note: it will apply to text layers in the order they appear in the layer list, and ignore any ‘locked’ or ‘hidden’ layers.
When the plugin window is open, rather than typing out prompts and generating them within the plugin, you can do it directly on the Figma canvas.
To do this, make sure the Plugin is open (the allows it to be watching for changes.)
With a text layers selected, at the end type either:
++
to auto-complete the text with generated content.
==
to replace the text with generated content.
